Stockpiling for Emergencies: Disaster Preparedness and Rolling Stock Campaign

The NISSIN FOODS Group is promoting awareness activities for Rolling Stock, which involves stockpiling familiar food items for disaster preparedness, with the aim of raising awareness of disaster prevention and knowledge of disaster preparedness.

Momofuku Ando, the founder of NISSIN FOODS, constantly thought about what would be beneficial to people and society, and he continued to contribute to society by fulfilling people’s dietary needs. The NISSIN FOODS Group has inherited its founder’s vision and is actively involved in providing support to disaster-affected areas and conducting awareness activities related to disaster prevention.

One of the most important things during a disaster is securing food. It is crucial to stockpile food on a daily basis, but even food that can be stored for long periods of time may expire without you realizing if you do not check them regularly. To avoid such situations, the concept of “Rolling Stock” is recommended. This is a method of stockpiling everyday foods you are accustomed to eating for times of disaster, and the key is to replenish them on a regular basis while consuming them in everyday life.
NISSIN FOODS offers a subscription service called the “CUP NOODLE Rolling Stock Set” that automatically delivers cup-type instant noodles and cup-type instant rice every three months, with the aim of encouraging customers to practice Rolling Stock. The original box includes items such as a portable stove, water, a saucepan, fork, and more, allowing you to enjoy warm meals even if electricity or water supplies are cut off. Since the items are delivered automatically on a regular basis, there is no need to worry about expiration dates or purchase additional items yourself. This product is recognized by experts in the disaster prevention field and has been certified as a recommended disaster prevention product by the Disaster Prevention Safety Association.

In addition, through the “Hyakufukushi Project,” one of the Group’s social contribution activities, the NISSIN FOODS Group are continuing to promote and raise awareness of Rolling Stock in various ways, such as implementing a program called “Keep Your Pantry Stocked for an Emergency: The Rolling Stockers,” conducting awareness-raising events throughout Japan, and having employees themselves distribute leaflets.
